Explore Hendrix’s Axis: Bold as Love fuzz tones!
The Axis Fuzz was developed for Jimi Hendrix in early 1967.
Hendrix went on to use this circuit during the Axis: Bold as Love sessions. It can also be heard extensively on the Band of Gypsys album.
The Axis is super responsive to the guitar's volume, delivering a pristine clean-up while maintaining a broad spectrum of tonal colors.
Electronically, it uses both PNP and NPN silicon low noise transistors in a unique configuration that is temperature stable, free from radio interference and produces more output and sustain than traditional Fuzz Face-inspired designs.
The Axis Fuzz produces a distinctive rich, biting sound that makes solos extremely noticeable but not thin sounding! It is definitely best described as fuzz rather than distortion but has the ability to be used on chords as well as solos.
The new Roger Mayer Axis 27 lets you reconfigure its internal parameters for 27 different tone options: mirroring the myriad of mods Roger Mayer made to Hendrix’s gear during their experimentations.
Roger Mayer Axis 27 Fuzz Pedal features:
• Originally designed for Jimi Hendrix in 1967.
• New version adds 27 user-tweakable parameters internally.
• Rich, biting sound that makes solos front and center!
• Controls: Gain, Output
• Power: 9V DC.
• Current Draw: Less than 100mA.
• Dimensions: 95 x 120 x 57mm.
