The Compulsion Drive (TCD) is Brian Wampler’s modern re-imagining of one of the most iconic distortion circuits ever made, delivering the unmistakable roar, sparkle and touch sensitivity players love.
Designed to feel and respond like a great amp, the TCD moves effortlessly from edge-of-breakup crunch to harmonically rich saturation, while offering deeper tone shaping than the classic circuit that inspired it.
At its core, the TCD captures the amp-like dynamics and harmonic complexity of the famous original. Back off your picking and it cleans to gritty sparkle. Dig in and it explodes into thick, searing distortion. It is responsive to your guitar’s volume control and your playing, making it feel like part of your rig rather than just another pedal in front of it.
The intuitive control layout includes Level, Gain and a powerful 3-band EQ (Bass, Mids, Treble), allowing you to craft anything from tight, focused drive to wide-open tones loaded with clarity and presence. A front-panel Mode switch gives you two clipping styles: a traditional gain structure when the switch is down, or a harder hitting, tube-like cascaded MOSFET stage when up.
Inside the pedal, two DIP switches offer boutique-level customization. The Fat switch adds deep low-end warmth, while the Diode switch introduces an extra clipping diode for a tighter and more saturated voice. These internal options let you dial in four distinct circuit variations, each with its own character.
True to Wampler tradition, the TCD is built in the USA using premium components and a rugged platinum sparkle enclosure. It delivers consistent performance on stage or in the studio and brings a refined yet aggressive drive tone that works seamlessly with other pedals.
For players who want the soul of a legendary circuit with modern versatility and control, The Compulsion Drive is Brian Wampler’s definitive tribute.
