Celebrate 60 years of Pet Sounds with real spring reverb

The Surfy Industries SurfyBear Beach Boys Edition celebrates the 60th anniversary of The Beach Boys' legendary Pet Sounds album with an extremely limited version of the SurfyBear Compact, combining exclusive commemorative styling with the authentic analog spring reverb that made SurfyBear famous.

Rather than digitally emulating the sound of a spring reverb, the SurfyBear uses a real Accutronics Type 8 spring reverb pan. Its JFET-based analog circuit was developed around the specifications of the legendary Fender 6G15 outboard reverb unit, delivering the unmistakable splash, drip and physical response of actual springs in a considerably more compact and pedalboard-friendly format.

Originally introduced in the early 1960s, the Fender-style outboard reverb became an essential part of the classic surf guitar sound. The SurfyBear captures that same interactive character, allowing your guitar signal to physically excite the springs for everything from subtle ambience to deep, percussive and unmistakably drippy spring reverb.

The Beach Boys Edition provides extensive control over the response of the real spring tank. Dwell determines how much signal is sent to the reverb pan, Decay shapes the length of the reverb tail, and Tone adjusts the character of the wet signal. A dedicated Volume control sets the overall output level.

Two independent Mixer controls let you dial in two different balances between the dry and wet signals. The dedicated Mixer 1-2 footswitch then lets you instantly move between those two settings while the reverb is engaged, making it easy to switch from a more restrained reverb sound to a much wetter setting without adjusting any controls.

Despite its vintage inspiration and real spring tank, the SurfyBear is designed to integrate easily into a modern guitar rig. Separate dry and wet signal paths preserve the direct signal while the spring reverb is blended alongside it, and True Bypass operation removes the effect from the signal path when bypassed.

Created as part of the worldwide celebration of the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds, this special edition brings together two sounds closely connected to California music history: The Beach Boys and the unmistakable character of real spring reverb. Production is extremely limited worldwide, making this a particularly special version of one of Surfy Industries' most popular designs.
