R Weaver FX’s Love Letter to the Uni-Vibe

The R Weaver FX Midnight Vibe is the result of more than 40 years of experience from builder Rick Weaver, whose lifelong fascination with guitars, amps, electronics and pedal design has shaped every detail of this circuit. His goal was simple: create a Uni-Vibe that captures the character of the best vintage units while offering reliability, control and musicality for modern players.

Every pedal is built using premium components, including NOS Japanese C2-V bulbs and hand-selected photocells chosen to match the organic feel of the most desirable 1960s units. The result is a three-dimensional swirl, rich harmonic movement and the unmistakable throb that defined some of the greatest guitar tones ever recorded.

The Midnight Vibe is available in two distinct versions, each offering its own response, speed range and character. Whether you prefer the intense, vintage-inspired movement of the 68 Spec or the smoother, more controlled sweep of the 69 Spec, both versions deliver the unmistakable feel of a classic Uni-Vibe.

Midnight Vibe 68 Spec

The 68 Spec delivers the chewiest and most organic sound of the two versions. It offers a higher available top speed and reacts with more intensity at faster settings.

This version is ideal for anyone chasing Hendrix's 1970 tour tones or looking for the most saturated and vintage-style movement.

Midnight Vibe 69 Spec

The 69 Spec provides a smoother, clearer and more controlled feel. It has a slower overall speed range and produces a very fluid and articulate sweep.

This version is perfect for players who prefer the tones of Gilmour or Trower and who want a refined and vocal character with excellent clarity.

Great Univibe option

I recently ordered the R Weaver Midnight Vibe and so far I think it’s great. I really like the original design idea they use in this vibe with the ability to bypass the vibe circuit and use the preamp. The sound of the vibe is wonderful, the speed goes from slow throb to fast almost Leslie type speed, it’s rather large compared to most modern pedal designs, but I don’t mind it as I only have a handful of effects and am basically running a Hendrix/SRV/Sayce kind of pedalboard, everything I need for the stuff I like to play. The only negative thing I can think of is that the blue speed led is extremely bright, if you’re right over top of it it’s quite distracting and almost blinding, they probably could have gone with a more dull old school type light for that, but a piece of tape over it works to take that down lol. Priced in between the Formula B Vintahe Vibe and the Sabaddius Vibe options, I thought I would give this one a whirl and glad I did, I really like it. It’s got ‘the sound’. The Best Quality Tone and looks

I'm doing my own little vibe shootout. I'm trying several vibe pedals plus I have a few lower end ($100-$200) models already. The Midnight Vibe was love at first play. Investing a bit more in a handmade high quality vibe is very worth it. I'm still auditioning a few higher end vibes. I'll probably keep two when it's all said and done. There's no question that the Midnight Vibe is a keeper. It has a smooth throbing quality in the bass that most people want in a pedal based on the original Univibe. I was super impressed by the service and the shipping speed. Really amazing considering that it is shipped from Canada, IIRC. I'm still waiting on some of the contenders to arrive. I'll write more later because I am very enthusiastic about the Midnight Vibe!

Best vibe I've had the chance to try

Love everything about it, sounds amazing and the build quality is up there. It's a commitment space-wise and it wasn't cheap, but IMO it's well worth it
