The perfect PAF replica, made even rarer.

The OX4 Low Wind PAF with NOS 1960s Wire is an exceptionally rare variation of Mark Stow's acclaimed Low Wind humbucker. Built using genuine New Old Stock magnet wire dating from the 1960s, these pickups were produced as a very limited special run rather than part of OX4's standard lineup.

According to Mark Stow, only ten sets were ever made using this rare vintage wire. Unlike the standard OX4 Low Wind, which uses 42 AWG wire, this version is wound with uncommon 41.5 AWG vintage wire, creating a unique variation of OX4's celebrated PAF recipe.

Like every OX4 pickup, the bobbins, baseplates, covers, slugs and keepers are manufactured by OX4 Pickups using vintage-correct materials, then hand wound in the United Kingdom with meticulous attention to detail.

If you're searching for one of the finest PAF reproductions available, and one of the rarest OX4 sets ever produced, it doesn't get much more special than this.

Curious what PAF means?

PAF is an acronym for Patent Applied For.

It's the nickname given to the original Gibson humbuckers introduced in the mid-1950s.

PAF pickups were installed in Gibson's humbucker-equipped guitars between 1957 and 1962, including the legendary Burst Les Pauls that have become some of the most coveted electric guitars ever made.

What is the PAF sound?

Classic PAFs are known for their remarkable balance of clarity, warmth and dynamics. They deliver a bright, articulate attack, smooth and expressive mids, tight low end and exceptional responsiveness to your picking dynamics and guitar's volume control.

PAFs helped define the sound of players like Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Paul Kossoff, Peter Green and Jimmy Page, and continue to set the benchmark for vintage humbucker tone.
