Three iconic circuits elevated by Nordvang!
Nordvang's Triple Gain takes inspiration from three classic circuits: the BluesBreaker, the TS10 and the Klon.
Nordvang went to great lengths to capture the essence of these pedals and elevate them to new heights!
Triple Gain packs a broad variety of tone-shaping options, taking you from soft breakup all the way to saturated tones.
The BluesBreaker, TS10, and Klon circuits played a significant role in John Mayer's signature tones through the years.
The BluesBreaker stacked into the TS10 will recreate the tones heard on Continuum.
The Klon stacked into the TS10 will match Mayer's current tone.
And, should you want to push beyond, you can stack all three drives together!
After all, while Triple Gain was inspired by John Mayer, it works well for anyone looking to dial in a variety of Blues and Blues Rock tones.
BluesBreaker circuit.
Of the three circuits in Triple Gain, the BluesBreaker side was tweaked the most.
Nordvang raised the internal voltage from 9V to 18V, giving the pedal improved headroom and dynamics.
The minimum gain level and the taper of the gain and volume potentiometers were also changed, resulting in an improved response.
Lastly, a toggle switch for a high gain mode, an internal trim pot for presence and a DIP switch for clipping options were added.
Klon circuit.
With the Klon circuit, Nordvang stuck as closely to the original circuit as possible.
The one significant change made was to the original's electrolytic capacitors, which were replaced with premium Wima polyester capacitors. Triple Gain uses NOS Russian germanium diodes.
TS10 circuit.
To capture the classic TS10 tone, Nordvang stuck closely to the original and focused solely on quality.
As such, Triple Gain uses original NOS Toshiba 1S1588 diodes and 2SC1815 transistors.
The main change is the addition of an internal DIP switch which adds an extra pair of clipping diodes in the overdrive stage, resulting in increased headroom and a more open sound.
