The Manlay Sound The Sound is an all-analog overdrive designed to capture the unmistakable character of a cranked late-1960s Marshall Plexi. From blues and classic rock to the beginnings of hard rock, it delivers the open, harmonically rich overdrive heard on countless legendary recordings.
Built around carefully selected FET transistors, The Sound recreates the feel, dynamics and harmonic complexity of an overdriven vintage Plexi remarkably well. Rather than relying on heavy compression or excessive gain, it responds naturally to your picking attack, rewarding a lighter touch with articulate cleans and delivering rich, singing overdrive as you dig in.
One of the pedal's greatest strengths is its exceptional clean-up. Roll back your guitar's volume control and The Sound becomes bright, dynamic and almost clean, much like a vintage Marshall pushed to its sweet spot. Many players leave it on all the time, shaping their gain directly from the guitar without ever touching the pedal.
Simple but highly effective Bass and Treble controls make it easy to tailor the pedal to different amplifiers and guitars, while the Gain and Volume controls cover everything from edge-of-breakup tones to classic British rock crunch.
Like every Manlay Sound pedal, The Sound is individually hand built in Barcelona using premium components and housed in Manlay's distinctive hand-painted steel enclosure.
