The Manlay Sound Honk Machine is a meticulous recreation of the legendary Zonk Machine, one of the rarest and most sought-after fuzz pedals of the 1960s. Produced in very limited numbers, the original Zonk has become a true collector's piece, prized for its explosive attack, vocal midrange and unmistakable germanium character.
Although it shares its heritage with the Tone Bender MKI, the Zonk Machine has a voice all its own. It delivers a brighter, more aggressive fuzz with a distinctive upper-mid "honk" that cuts effortlessly through a mix while retaining the rich harmonic texture and dynamic response that define the very best vintage germanium circuits.
To faithfully recreate the original circuit, the Honk Machine is built using carefully selected New Old Stock germanium transistors, individually matched by ear for authentic vintage tone. The result is a lively, expressive fuzz that responds beautifully to your picking dynamics and cleans up remarkably well from your guitar's volume control.
Like every Manlay Sound pedal, the Honk Machine is hand built in Barcelona using traditional point-to-point construction on perforated board, premium components and housed in Manlay's distinctive vintage-style steel enclosure.
