The Hudson Sidecar reimagines the iconic 808 overdrive with bold character, expanded tone shaping, and a powerful studio-inspired EQ section.
At its core, the Sidecar retains the smooth, mid-forward voice of a classic 808 but extends its range dramatically. The drive circuit has been modified for a tighter, more pronounced low end, increased headroom, and a broader gain sweep — capable of everything from light breakup to full-bodied distortion, and even fuzz when cranked.
A pair of carefully selected germanium diodes gives the clipping stage a softer, more dynamic response. Whether you're digging in for saturated leads or backing off for articulate chords, the Sidecar reacts with vintage feel and touch sensitivity.
What sets the Sidecar apart is its two-band Baxandall EQ, inspired by vintage Studer recording consoles. Offering up to 15dB of cut or boost at 85Hz (Bass) and 8.8kHz (Treble), this EQ section makes the Sidecar just as capable as a tone sculptor as it is an overdrive — all while remaining inherently musical and transparent.
Hand-built in the UK by Michael Hudson using premium components and rugged construction, the Sidecar is built to perform night after night.
Run it at 9V for classic compression and saturation, or push it to 18V or 24V for extra clarity, headroom, and articulation — perfect for low-tuned guitars, baritones, or bass.
