The Great Eastern FX Focus Fuzz Deluxe builds upon the acclaimed Focus Fuzz, combining vintage-inspired tone with an expanded range of sounds. From a gritty clean boost and dynamic overdrive to rich, harmonically complex fuzz, it covers an impressive amount of ground while adding a footswitchable analog octave-up effect for even greater versatility.
At the heart of the circuit is a carefully selected NOS Soviet-era germanium transistor working alongside silicon transistors and diode clipping. This hybrid design preserves the warmth, touch sensitivity and musical character of vintage germanium fuzz while offering the consistency and flexibility modern players expect.
The Focus Fuzz Deluxe offers three distinct gain modes. Boost delivers a nearly clean boost with just a hint of breakup when pushed. Drive produces an open, amp-like overdrive with exceptional dynamics, while Fuzz recreates the original Focus Fuzz circuit, ranging from lightly saturated tones to thick, sustaining fuzz.
The dedicated Overtone footswitch adds an analog octave-up that blends naturally with your dry signal. Whether you're after classic octave fuzz sounds or simply want to add harmonic richness to your lead tones, the effect works beautifully across all three gain modes.
The Focus control plays an important role in shaping the pedal's voice. In Boost and Drive modes, it adjusts gain and presence, while in Fuzz mode it functions as a treble boost feeding the fuzz circuit for additional bite and cut. The Fuzz control simultaneously adjusts gain and transistor bias, maintaining a smooth and musical response throughout its entire range.
Hand built in Cambridge, England, using high-quality through-hole components, the Focus Fuzz Deluxe combines several classic gain textures into a single pedal without sacrificing the character, dynamics or responsiveness that Great Eastern FX has become known for.
