From gritty bass overdrive to aggressive, saturated fuzz

The FTelettronica Amianto Bass Distortion is a powerful and unusually articulate dirt pedal designed to cover the territory between gritty overdrive, aggressive distortion and saturated fuzz. Its voice is bold and mid-forward, with a distinctive growl and bite that helps bass lines remain clearly defined even when the gain is pushed hard.

At the heart of the Amianto is a distortion circuit that leans heavily into fuzz territory, but with an important twist: a treble booster placed at the front of the circuit. This additional stage gives the pedal a more immediate, cutting response and helps preserve articulation as the distortion increases, avoiding the muddy or overly compressed character that can sometimes accompany high-gain bass fuzz.

The result is a remarkably flexible gain range. At lower Distortion settings, the Amianto adds grit, texture and harmonic richness while retaining the natural character of your instrument. Turn the gain higher and the sound becomes increasingly aggressive and saturated, moving into thick fuzz with plenty of sustain without losing the definition and attack needed to sit properly in a mix.

A prominent midrange gives the Amianto its characteristic punch, while the high frequencies remain smooth and controlled rather than harsh or fizzy. Most importantly for bass players, the Blend control allows you to mix your clean signal back alongside the distorted sound, restoring the fundamental low-end weight and attack that can otherwise disappear with heavily saturated effects.

Four straightforward controls make the Amianto easy to dial in. Level sets the overall volume, Distortion controls saturation and sustain, Tone offers a wide range from darker and smoother sounds to brighter, more cutting tones, and Blend determines how much of your clean bass signal is mixed back into the effect.

Handmade in Italy by FTelettronica, the Amianto combines an unconventional circuit approach with a simple control layout, making it equally useful as a subtle source of bass grit or an aggressive fuzz capable of becoming the centerpiece of your gain sound.
