The EarthQuaker Devices Towers is a stereo reverberant filter designed to create immersive soundscapes that go far beyond conventional room, hall, or plate reverb sounds.
Rather than simulating physical spaces, the Towers combines reverb, filtering, modulation, and stereo movement into a highly interactive platform capable of producing everything from subtle atmospheric textures to vast, evolving ambient landscapes.
Designed by EarthQuaker Devices founder Jamie Stillman, the Towers is one of the company's most ambitious explorations of spatial effects to date.
At the heart of the Towers is a resonant filter integrated directly into the reverb engine. Three operating modes allow you to shape how the filter behaves and interacts with your playing.
Manual Mode provides direct control over filter frequency and stereo positioning. Envelope Mode responds dynamically to your picking attack, creating expressive movement that follows your performance. LFO Mode introduces slow modulation and stereo motion, transforming static reverb trails into constantly evolving textures.
The result is a uniquely animated reverb that feels alive under your fingers, whether you're creating subtle ambience or experimental soundscapes.
One of the Towers' most distinctive features is the Stretch function. Activated via the dedicated footswitch, Stretch dramatically extends the reverb decay while shifting filter frequencies and introducing pitch-like movement within the reverb tail.
The effect can range from beautiful ambient swells to haunting, otherworldly textures that seem to evolve indefinitely.
Combined with stereo operation, onboard presets, expression control, and EarthQuaker's signature ease of use, the Towers offers a deep yet intuitive platform for sonic exploration.
