The Discomfort Designs Riemann's Grave is an experimental stereo filter that combines powerful tone shaping, unusual modulation and harmonic manipulation in a pedal designed to create sounds that are constantly moving and evolving.
At its heart is a resonant multimode filter capable of everything from subtle tonal movement to dramatic sweeps, whistles and howls. Rather than relying solely on traditional modulation shapes, Riemann's Grave can animate the filter using a random Sample & Hold waveform or the more fluid Wandering Sine, creating movement that ranges from rhythmic and abrupt to smooth, drifting and unpredictable.
The Zeta Function adds another dimension by introducing additional harmonic content before it reaches the filter. Three distinct processing modes provide wave folding, bit crushing or octave-up distortion, allowing you to move from subtle saturation and added texture to fractured digital sounds and aggressive harmonic distortion. Feeding these harmonically rich signals into the resonant filter opens the door to an enormous range of unusual textures.
For even greater unpredictability, the Jitter function introduces movement to other parameters within the pedal, allowing settings to shift and evolve in unexpected ways. Rather than simply repeating the same modulation cycle, Riemann's Grave can feel almost alive, producing subtle variations, sudden changes and happy accidents as you play.
Whether you're looking for animated stereo filtering, unusual modulation, glitchy textures, aggressive resonant sweeps or sounds that seem to have a mind of their own, Riemann's Grave is a unique creative tool built for experimentation and discovery.
