The Chase Tone Purple Stardust is a modern reissue of the elusive, vocal-style octave fuzz tones from the late 1960s — the kind made famous by legendary artists of the era.
While many octave fuzz circuits from that period were inconsistent and temperamental, a handful stood out for their musical tracking, vowel-like upper harmonics, and expressive feel. The Purple Stardust captures the best of those vintage units, while improving consistency, response, and reliability for modern setups.
At the heart of the circuit is a tuned gain structure, premium components, and an interactive Hi-Octave control — allowing you to sweep from Band of Gypsys-style saturation to chiming, crystalline octave textures.
With just two controls, the Purple Stardust is deceptively simple yet remarkably versatile: run it into a clean amp for articulate definition, or into another fuzz or overdrive for vintage high-gain chaos. Responsive to pickup position, volume knob changes, and pick attack, it’s a fuzz that plays like an extension of your instrument.
