Dual Analog Filters, Endless Sonic Possibilities

Old Blood Noise Endeavors introduces the Float V2, an expanded and refined version of its innovative dual-filter pedal. Building on the distinctive state-variable filter architecture of the original Float, this second generation preserves its expressive analog character while introducing improved noise performance, expanded control options, MIDI functionality, and presets. From classic envelope filter sweeps and auto-wah sounds to tremolo-like movement, phasing textures, and experimental modulation, the Float V2 offers a remarkably versatile approach to shaping your sound.

At the heart of the Float V2 are two independent analog filters, each capable of producing low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass responses, with seven selectable combinations of these filter types. Built around a two-pole, 12 dB/octave state-variable filter design, each section offers dedicated Cutoff, Resonance, and Volume controls. The filters retain their low-frequency response as resonance increases, providing a distinctive character that remains musical and controllable. Each filter can be used independently or combined with the other for more complex sounds.

Both filters offer extensive modulation capabilities through independent LFO and envelope controls. Six LFO waveforms, including sine, square, rising and falling ramps, smooth random, and stepped random, allow you to create everything from smooth, rhythmic sweeps to unpredictable, constantly evolving textures. Adjustable Rate and Depth controls shape the movement, while the envelope section responds to your playing dynamics, allowing the filter cutoff or LFO speed to react to the intensity of your performance.

The Float V2 also introduces flexible synchronization options between its two filters. The Sync function links their modulation while allowing adjustments to phase relationships and envelope direction, creating rhythmic interactions and complex movement. A Hard Sync mode provides even tighter integration by matching the cutoff frequencies of both filters. These possibilities make the Float equally suited to familiar filtering effects and more adventurous sound design.

Four routing configurations provide exceptional flexibility. The Float V2 can operate in parallel mono, series mono, mono-to-stereo, or full stereo, allowing the two filters to work together or process separate signal paths. With appropriate breakout cables, the filters can even be placed at different points in a mono signal chain. An expression pedal input allows real-time control over any combination of knobs, while the auxiliary footswitch can be assigned to Tap Tempo or preset navigation.

Expanded MIDI functionality and preset storage make the Float V2 particularly useful in more elaborate pedalboard setups. Three onboard presets provide quick access to favorite sounds, while MIDI offers access to up to 127 presets and external control over the pedal's parameters. A USB-C connection is also provided for firmware updates.

With its two versatile analog filters, extensive modulation capabilities, and flexible routing options, the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Float V2 offers an expressive platform for everything from traditional filter effects to entirely new sonic explorations.
