Unlock the magic of the 1960s Klemt Echolette Tape Echo!
The Klemt Echolette Tape Echo Machine has long remained in the shadows of its more famous counterparts, but those in the know appreciate this golden box for its unique sound, particularly its mighty preamp.
If you've ever experienced the tube-driven Echolette preamp, you'll be familiar with its ability to deliver a mesmerizing glassy volume boost and a jaw-dropping, chewy fuzz-like overdrive.
One of the standout features of these preamps is their distinctive tone control, which interacts with the preamp's gain structure and beautifully complements any amplifier it touches.
The tone control uniquely cuts bass below 12 o'clock or treble above 12 o'clock, with a flat frequency response at noon.
In designing the Echolette NG-51, Mile End Effects dedicated an insane amount of time testing JFET transistors, striving to replicate the harmonic response of the old Telefunken ECC83-driven machine.
Their efforts paid off, as they managed to capture that unmistakable sound by carefully selecting JFETs that operate in a precise range and feeding them a higher internal voltage than a standard 9V power supply can provide.
This ingenious design offers an absurd volume boost and headroom akin to a tube running at high plate voltage!
Additionally, a toggle on the top of the pedal allows you to switch to the lower headroom 9V internal voltage if desired.
The Echolette NG-51 Preamp will be part of Mile End Effects' lineup for as long as they can source these hard-to-find transistors.
