A new generation of expressive sustain and sound creation
The Gamechanger Audio PLUS Pedal II takes the innovative sustain concept of the original PLUS Pedal even further, introducing a completely redesigned sound engine, automatic note layering, expanded performance controls, and new ways to shape and manipulate sustained sounds. Inspired by the sustain pedal of an acoustic piano, PLUS II allows musicians to capture and sustain individual notes or chords while continuing to play, creating everything from natural piano-like sustain to expansive ambient textures and evolving walls of sound.
At the heart of PLUS II is a new Spectral Sampling engine that works alongside Gamechanger Audio's original Real-time Audio Sampling technology. Rather than simply freezing or looping a section of audio, the pedal analyzes the harmonic and dynamic characteristics of your instrument, preserving the timbre, texture, and expressive nuances of each captured note. The result is a remarkably natural and responsive sustain experience that works with guitars, synthesizers, acoustic instruments, vocals, and other sound sources.
One of the most significant additions is Auto Layer Catch, which allows PLUS II to automatically capture and layer new notes while you keep your foot resting on the brass pedal. This creates an intuitive playing experience similar to holding down the sustain pedal of a piano, allowing you to build chords, harmonies, and complex textures one note at a time.
A dedicated Layers control determines how many sustained layers remain active simultaneously. Choose anywhere from one to ten layers for precise control over the complexity of your sound, or select Infinite Mode to continuously combine older layers into evolving soundscapes. Dedicated Catch and Hold switches provide additional control over which notes are captured and how they behave, while independent Rise and Decay controls determine how each layer fades in and out.
The new Dual Resonator engine introduces additional upper and lower harmonic content that responds dynamically to the sustained notes. As new layers are introduced, their harmonic interactions continue to evolve, creating rich, organic textures that extend beyond conventional sustain. A dedicated Tone control applies a gradually evolving filter envelope to each layer, adding further movement and expression to the sustained sound.
Expanded performance controls and connectivity
PLUS II introduces a redesigned optical brass pedal that responds gradually throughout its entire range of movement. Rather than functioning as a simple on/off switch, the pedal provides expressive control over the volume and release characteristics of sustained layers, making it possible to recreate the subtle response of a piano sustain pedal or introduce smooth volume swells during a performance. A circular LED display provides real-time visual feedback as layers are added and released.
For players looking to integrate additional effects, PLUS II features a stereo FX loop with three selectable routing configurations. External effects can be placed before the sustain engine, inside the sustain path to process only the sustained layers, or after the engine to affect the complete output mix. This allows the same external effects to produce dramatically different results without having to rearrange cables.
A combination XLR/¼" input with a built-in analog microphone preamp expands the pedal's usefulness beyond electric guitar. Dynamic microphones can be connected directly, with adjustable gain for vocals, acoustic instruments, and other sound sources. A dedicated Kill Dry switch also allows PLUS II to function as a sustain-only processor, particularly useful when working with acoustic instruments.
An optional external footswitch provides three additional performance modes. Wet removes the dry signal from the main output, leaving only the sustained layers. Latch keeps the pedal engaged without requiring continuous pressure on the brass pedal, while Hide temporarily removes the dry signal during note capture, allowing musicians to build sustained textures without revealing the notes being played.
From subtle sustain enhancement and layered chord voicings to cinematic ambience, experimental resonance, and complex sound design, the Gamechanger Audio PLUS Pedal II offers an unusually expressive approach to creating and controlling sustained sound.
