A modern evolution of the classic Free the Tone SOV!
The Free the Tone SOV series has captivated guitarists worldwide for over 20 years.
This design acquired a legend all its own, thanks in part to Matt Schofield, who has been using a custom-made SOV for years.
Among its various iterations, the SOV-2 emerged as the definitive version, leaving a lasting impression until its discontinuation in 2018.
Now, Free the Tone proudly revives the SOV-2 as a limited-release through their Custom Shop!
While the SOV-2 doesn’t use vacuum tubes, its sound emulates the harmonics and dynamics of a high-end tube amp.
The SOV-2 excels with amps ranging from Marshall and Fender classics to high-end boutique models.
It also pairs seamlessly with other overdrive pedals, opening endless tonal possibilities.
Free the Tone invites you to explore the SOV-2’s full potential as a companion for any musical style you throw at it!
Exceptional design and craftsmanship.
At the heart of the SOV-2 is a high-performance converter that boosts 9V DC input to ±15V DC.
This expands the pedal's dynamic range, allowing it to translate delicate picking and touch dynamics into expressive, natural overdrive!
Each unit is signed by the developer, Yukihiro Hayashi, as a personal mark of its exceptional quality.
