EP-3-inspired Preamp and Buffer.
Modeled after the Maestro Echoplex EP-3's legendary preamp, the Catalinbread Epoch Boost makes your tone bigger, fuller and livelier.
While some guitarists made great use of the EP-3's echo effect, others dragged one to every gig just for its magical preamp.
This preamp circuit was wired always-on, so even those using it as an echo effect received significant tonal enhancements from the preamp circuit.
Everyone from Eddie Van Halen to East Bay Ray (of the Dead Kennedys) relied on the EP-3 preamp to take their sound to previously unreachable heights.
The Catalinbread Epoch Boost is also a pristine buffer: making it a great choice for the end of your pedalboard chain.
And, to maintain the dynamics of your performance, the pedal internally shifts your 9V power supply up to 22V: giving you unparalleled headroom and clarity.
If you're after bigger guitar tones, the Catalinbread Epoch Boost Preamp won't disappoint!
Your tone. Better.
The Catalinbread Epoch Boost sounds just like your base tone, but better: like it was sculpted to perfection by a mastering engineer!
This is accomplished by employing the same internal circuitry as a real EP-3.
The pedal is loaded with NOS Orange Drop capacitors and an output mixer stage that acts as a rudimentary frequency selector.
Inside, you'll find a switchable hi-Z input buffer if you’d like to use the Epoch Boost as your only pedal (don’t worry, we won’t judge).
Catalinbread Epoch Boost Preamp/Buffer Pedal features:
• Preamp / Buffer inspired by the classic Maestro Echoplex EP-3 tape echo.
• Faithfully re-creates the original EP-3's preamp circuit.
• Acts like a mastering processor for your guitar tone: making it bigger, livelier, and more vibrant.
• Boost control adds up to 20dB of crystal-clear boost as you crank it.
• True Bypass.
• Switchable buffer for maintaining your tone over long cable runs.
• Power: 9V DC.
• Current Draw: 2mA.
• Dimensions: 1.93" x 2.36" x 4.33".
