The Binson Echorec is one of the most revered echo units in history.
The Boonar captures its magic in a stompbox format!
The Dawner Prince Boonar is very much like an Echorec for the 21st century.
FET inputs simulate tube-like dirt on the repeats and a digital DSP unit controls the virtual magnetic head.
There are a multitude of controls for tweaking the dank and cavernous delay to something musical (or to something completely wild and unheard of).
The Echorec truly defined Pink Floyd’s sound during the 1970s.
Its sound can be heard on "Interstellar Overdrive", "Astronomy Domine", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Time".
The original Echorec featured four different playback heads; each spaced out differently to give you a different delay time.
You could combine them to create haunting, dark, reverb-like tails (or use the Swell control to create repeats that bubble beautifully into each other).
The removable input and drum age trimmer controls are a stroke of genius! Both of these can edge the Boonar into lo-fi loveliness
Cranking the input adds a hint of fuzzy breakup.
'Age-ing' the drum morphs the tone from a glistening shimmer into a darker and thicker soup where the modulation effect becomes more apparent.
Need more convincing? David Gilmour has one on his pedalboard, as does John Mayer!
