Origin Effects RevivalDRIVE Custom Overdrive Pedal.
Thanks to its unique design, the RevivalDRIVE is able to recreate aspects of real tube amp behaviour never previously captured in a pedal.
It accurately delivers a wide range of British and American amp tones, from clean to fully cranked, with the ability to dial in exactly the drive characteristics and dynamic response you desire.
Valve and
silicon rectifier channels let you experiment with different flavours of
power amp sag, while the variable Ghost control recreates the “double
tone” or “ghost note” effect encountered when cranking certain vintage
amps, subtly thickening up solos.
Using a built-in reactive load, the pedal also models the interaction between a real valve output stage and a speaker cabinet, delivering amp-like feel and realistic harmonics.
The RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM features additional front-panel controls and a secondary EQ that will let you precisely match the pedal with almost any amplifier. For touring players, it’s the ultimate fly-rig overdrive!
Adding the optional footswitch lets you remotely trigger the fully variable mid boost to punch through the mix or override the Dry/O.D. blend control, instantly switching from a lower gain tone to full throttle.

Average rating
Charles convinced me that I "must" audition the pedal. He was so certain I'd fall in love with it that he said I could use it for a couple weeks and if I just didn't jive with it, he'd pick up return shipping. In other words, he knew I was going to love the pedal. I own some of the finest Overdrive pedals on the planet, such as the Effectrode Tube Drive, Analogman King of Tone V4 Hi-Gain both channels, Ceriatone Centura and the Klon to name a few.
Well, I received this behemoth of a pedal literally 2 days after ordering it from Canada. I plugged it in, became accustomed with the multitude of switches and mini potentiometers then dove in head-first. I do not want to belabor you, the reader, with details about the pedal you can find elsewhere. But I will tell you that I spent WEEKS A/B-ing this beautiful pedal against the best of the best.
My conclusion: this is the finest Overdrive EVER created. How did Origin Effects accomplish this feat? I have no idea. You can set this baby up to sound like the cleanest Fender Blackface you've ever heard or the meanest Marshall amp on the planet. Or literally anything between and betwixt the two. To this day I am literally blown away by the RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM's interaction between my variety of guitars and amplifiers. Literally everything sounds better through this OD.
If you have the cash, do yourself a favor and pick up one of these criminally under-rated masterpieces. Those players who do know of its capabilities smile from ear to ear when discussing the RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM. Rarely ever do I give any pedal such high accolades. I'm an incredibly picky guy when it comes to tonality. It is probably one of the only pedals out there that I believe should actually sell for quite a bit "more" than its $649 price. So don't get sticker shock as I initially did. Give this baby a try and I honestly believe it will stay in your pedal arsenal throughout your career. And that is saying a LOT for someone who rotates pedals as often as myself.
Finally, after spending a year or more with this magical Overdrive, I finally believe I have reached audio nirvana with the following setup: Analogman King of Tone V4 into the BuffaloFX TD-X followed by the Origin Effects RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM. Every possible overdrive sound I am personally hoping to achieve can be obtained with ease using these three pedals in various formats. And the RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM is not only "always engaged", it is the keystone pedal of my liquid sound.
In closing, if you are in the market for the best-of-the-best overdrive pedals on the planet, look no further. You will not believe the capabilities of the RevivalDRIVE CUSTOM.
